Well I started reading poetry… actually– I’m going to the poetry club meeting tomorrow afternoon. Maybe I feel I have to make up for all my timidation in high school. Anyway, cool thought:

“The desire for poetry and lifelong love come only with experience of its best specimens. As one who has never been in love knows nothing about love, and learns nothing about it from statements and definitions, so one who has never read a good poem well and felt its power for himself will continue to care nothing for poetry in spite of every attempt to make him do so. The remedy in the first case is the experience of falling in love with a person; in the second, with a poem.”

Van Doren from Introductory to Poetry

PS note: After much thought, and the loss of three work out journals I’ve decided to just record them here. As I post most every day on here anyways. That way I keep up with my work out history without having to keep up with a log. I hate logs!!! Anyways, now I know where it’s at and no matter where I am at– so long as I have access to a computer I can record that day’s event.  I do realize that it distracts from the “real entry”,  for what few readers I have. And since this is primarily a note for my own personal reference I will keep it in this crazy small font at the bottom of the page, as not to distract you the reader. And for those who are so crazy about me that they read this “fine print”. I guess you will get an education in Triathlon Training 101 free of charge.

  4. thaAlkemist says:

    I loved you: and, it may be, from my soul
    The former love has never gone away,
    But let it not recall to you my dole;
    I wish not sadden you in any way.

    I loved you silently, without hope, fully,
    In diffidence, in jealousy, in pain;
    I loved you so tenderly and truly,
    As let you else be loved by any man.
